Is Being Born Again Mean Getting Baptized

born again versus Holy Spirit Baptism
At that place is a divergence between being built-in again and being baptized in the Holy Spirit

At that place is a difference betwixt being born again and being baptized in the Spirit. Nevertheless, some people erroneously think they are the same thing. It is important to make the distinction considering it has implications for our conservancy. So, what is the difference between being built-in again and being baptized in the Holy Spirit?

What Does it Mean to Be Born Again?

Being born over again is a concept that many persons have a hard time understanding. Up until recently, I myself was not fully certain what being built-in again meant. But, later on praying about information technology, asking God for wisdom on the thing and diligently searching the scriptures, the Lord has helped me to better sympathise what the concept of being born once more is all near. We see the term "born over again" mentioned by Jesus in John chapter 3:3 – eight,

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be built-in again, he cannot run into the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his female parent's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be built-in of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is built-in of the mankind is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be built-in again. The air current bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither information technology goeth: so is every one that is built-in of the Spirit.

Nicodemus had come up to Jesus asking him about the miracles that he had been performing but Jesus knew that Nicodemus was interested in finding out about the requirements of conservancy. Jesus told him that he had to be built-in again to enter into the kingdom of heaven; he had to exist born of the Spirit. Nicodemus wondered what Jesus meant past being born again, if it meant that he would have to enter into his female parent's womb a 2d time and be born. Jesus must accept been and then fascinated by Nicodemus' question! Yet, Jesus did not brand fun of Nicodemus because he was asking a legitimate and pertinent question. What exactly does it mean to be born again?

Jesus and then explained to Nicodemus what it meant by being built-in again. Jesus told him that when nosotros are born out of our mothers' wombs, nosotros are born of the water and of the flesh. This is where nosotros get the term or the saying "my water broke" past women who are about to give birth. So our natural nascence is our first nascence. Merely before we can enter into the kingdom of heaven, nosotros must feel a 2d nativity, that is nosotros must be born of the Spirit.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, they experienced spiritual death. When God had made Adam and Eve in the garden he had told them that they should not eat from the tree of the noesis of good and evil. He also told them that in the day that they ate of that tree, they would surely die (Genesis 2:1). When they disobeyed God, Adam and Eve did not dice physically but they experienced spiritual death which has passed on to the entire human race. When we are built-in, nosotros are born with a soul, a spirit and a torso. Yet, our spirits are dead. In gild for our spirits to come up alive or for us to experience spiritual birth, the Holy Spirit must "quicken" our spirits and bring it to life.

born again surgery

Think well-nigh it this style. When a person'due south heart stops beating, doctors may attempt to revive them by shocking the body with electric impulses. This can cause the person'south center to kickoff chirapsia again, thus saving their lives. Information technology is a similar thing with spiritual nativity, or existence born of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit himself moves upon our expressionless spirits and brings our dead spirits to life. When this happens, it means that nosotros have been built-in again or born of the Spirit. However, information technology does not mean that the Holy Spirit dwells within usa. It only ways that our spirits accept come up alive and we are now spiritually alive.

When Jesus was here on world, the requirements for salvation were existence born again (or born of the Spirit) and belief that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. The famous verse, John 3:xvi states, For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should non perish, but have everlasting life."

Many ministers quote this verse every bit the requirement for conservancy today without realizing that:

  1. This verse is contingent upon what Jesus said previously in the chapter in John 3:5 that except a person be born of the Spirit, they cannot enter into the kingdom of sky. So, belief lonely was not sufficient for salvation. I explore this concept and explicate why it is dangerous to accept the "saved by belief alone gospel" thoroughly in my book, "Who has Bewitched You? Unmasking and Defeating the Enemy of Your Soul."
  2. These were the requirements for salvation only when Jesus was alive. Afterward Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, the requirements for conservancy changed to belief in the physical, actual resurrection of Christ, besides as the requirement for baptism by the Holy Spirit.

What Does information technology Hateful to Be baptized in the Holy Spirit?

Simply put, baptism in the Holy Spirit is what happens when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside a laic. In this instance, the Holy Spirit doesn't simply bring a person's spirit to life, simply the Holy Spirit himself dwells inside that person, guiding and leading them into all truth. This Holy Spirit is the Comforter that Jesus Christ promised to transport to all believers considering he would no longer be physically here on earth afterward his death. Here is what the bible says in John 14:sixteen-20,

And I volition pray the Begetter, and he shall requite y'all another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: merely ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave yous comfortless: I will come to y'all. Nevertheless a little while and the earth seeth me no more; but ye come across me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day, ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you lot.

After Jesus' resurrection when he appeared to his disciples, he told them they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit and that they should stay in Jerusalem to expect for that baptism. He too told them that they would receive power in one case the Holy Spirit was come upon them. This is recorded in Acts 1:four-8,

And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, only wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, ye take heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying Lord, wilt chiliad at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, Information technology is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you lot; and ye shall exist witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the world.

The Apostle Peter speaks about the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts. In Acts three:38-39, Peter makes it clear that this promise did non just employ to the disciples, but it applied to all who the Lord Jesus would telephone call. That means that it would apply to all Christian believers. The scripture says, "Then Peter said unto them, apologize, and exist baptized every 1 of y'all in the proper name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you lot, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even every bit many as the Lord our God shall call."

Later on Jesus resurrection, when he appeared to his disciples, he told them that they should become into all the earth and preach the gospel to every creature. "He that believeth and is baptized shall exist saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take upwards serpents; and if they potable any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Marker 16:fifteen-xviii).

It is articulate hither that the requirements for salvation for us, who were born after Jesus' decease, burying and resurrection are that we believe in the resurrection of Christ and that we be baptized in the Holy Spirit. So, contrary to what some teach, belief in Jesus alone is not sufficient for conservancy. We must also be baptized in the Holy Spirit too. In fact, it is the Holy Spirit who is the seal of our salvation and unless the Holy Spirit dwells in u.s.a., we are non truly saved. Here we see that it is possible to be built-in again and still not be saved. Our spirits may have been quickened by the Holy Spirit, but he may not take yet taken up residence inside us. For these people, information technology is important that they seek earnestly after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This article explains in further details about how to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians ane:13-14 make it clear that the Holy Spirit is the seal or guarantee of our salvation. "In whom ye also trusted, afterward that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your conservancy: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Which is the hostage of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his celebrity."

Decision

Being built-in of the Spirit ways that our human spirits have been made live past the Holy Spirit. However, information technology does not mean that the Holy Spirit dwells in united states. Being baptized past the Holy Spirit means that the Holy Spirit dwells inside united states. Information technology is the Holy Spirit who guarantees our salvation today and without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we cannot be saved. Romans 8:9-11 say,"Merely ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, is so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ exist in you, the body is dead considering of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised upward Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Before Jesus' decease, burial and resurrection, all that was required for salvation was belief that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and being born again. Still, subsequently Jesus rose from the dead, it became a requirement for salvation that everyone believe in the resurrection and that everyone be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
