Before Jesus' decease, burial and resurrection, all that was required for salvation was belief that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and being born again. Still, subsequently Jesus rose from the dead, it became a requirement for salvation that everyone believe in the resurrection and that everyone be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
